A trained firefighter (Fire Pal) will be assigned to each school. The Fire PALS instructor will visit each teacher's class who chooses to participate. The Fire PALS instructor will teach and review the Fire PALS Curriculum with students and present activities that reinforce the skills taught. The Fire PALS instructor will also be available to talk to students on the playground and cafeteria. The Fire PALS instructor will work closely with the Lead Teacher and brings materials to the school including handouts, videotapes and posters. Outside guest speakers will be scheduled. These include visits by organizations, which have expertise in teaching topics such as pet safety, burn prevention, gun safety and poison awareness.
