Biography of Firefighter Nick

“Hooray! Here comes Firefighter Nick!” is a phrase frequently heard in the Waterloo Schools.

Nick started with Waterloo Fire Rescue on April 19, 2004, working as a firefighter and paramedic. He has been involved with the Fire PALS program for the past several years. His dedication to proactive fire prevention goes beyond the classroom setting. Nick is always willing to jump right in and take the safety trailer to public events and is very comfortable and dynamic when speaking to audiences of all ages.

But his true love is teaching the children in the Cedar Valley important life safety messages.“It is very important to me that the kids not only listen and hear what we teach in a lesson, but that they actually apply those tips in their daily lives. Nothing makes me sadder than responding to a call regarding a child who has been involved in a preventable accident.” Nick states.

In addition to teaching Fire PALS, Nick hosted several of our Fire PALS TV shows on government access channel 15. He taught a brief fire prevention lesson before introducing The Rainbow Valley Fire Department: The Fire Education Series™.

Nick is an important member of our Fire PALS team. His positive attitude and enthusiasm is enjoyed by all that know him. In his free time, Nick enjoys music, sports and spending time with his family.
